Transfer of Ownership. Ownership of the puppy transfers to the Buyer at the time the puppy leaves the care of River Dachs Miniature Dachshunds. From that point forward, the Buyer assumes all responsibility for the puppy's care, health, and well-being.
Buyer Responsibilities. The Buyer agrees to provide the puppy with appropriate care, including adequate food, fresh water, proper shelter, routine exercise, regular veterinary care, and a safe, humane living environment. The puppy shall be maintained as a household companion and shall not be neglected, abused, or kept in unsuitable conditions.
Health at Time of Transfer. The puppy is believed to be in good health at the time of transfer. Vaccination and deworming records will be provided. Routine conditions common in puppies — including parasites or minor illnesses — are not considered grounds for return or replacement.
Veterinary Examination. The Buyer is strongly encouraged to have the puppy examined by a licensed veterinarian within seventy-two (72) hours of transfer. Failure to obtain this examination voids any health-related guarantees.
Genetic Health Warranty. The puppy is warranted against life-altering congenital or genetic defects for a period of two (2) years from the puppy's date of birth. This warranty applies only to conditions that significantly affect the dog's quality of life and are confirmed by a licensed veterinarian through appropriate diagnostic testing. Common or routine conditions — including parasites, minor illnesses, or conditions influenced by environmental factors, nutrition, injury, or normal growth variations — are expressly excluded. If a covered condition is confirmed, the Breeder's sole obligation shall be to offer a replacement puppy of comparable value when available. No cash refunds shall be issued. This warranty is valid solely for the original Buyer.
Registration & Breeding Status. This puppy is sold as a companion pet with limited AKC registration. Breeding rights are not included and are granted only by prior written agreement at the sole discretion of the Breeder. If approved, an additional fee of $500 applies and terms will be set forth in a separate Breeding Rights Addendum.
Breeding Prohibition. Unless expressly authorized in writing, this puppy may not be bred, intentionally or accidentally. Unauthorized breeding constitutes a material breach of this Contract and entitles the Breeder to pursue all available legal remedies, including damages, injunctive relief, and attorney's fees.
Transfer & Rehoming Restrictions. The puppy may not be sold, transferred, leased, traded, or surrendered to any individual, breeder, shelter, rescue, or third party without prior written consent from the Breeder. If the Buyer is ever unable to retain ownership, the Breeder shall be given the first opportunity to reclaim the dog or approve an alternate placement.
Non-Refundable Purchase Terms. All deposits and purchase payments are non-refundable except as expressly provided under the Genetic Health Warranty. No refunds will be issued due to changes in the Buyer's personal circumstances, housing restrictions, allergies, temperament, or incompatibility with other pets or family members.
Limitation of Liability. The puppy is sold "as is" except as expressly stated in this Contract. The Breeder shall not be responsible for veterinary expenses, allergies, housing restrictions, behavioral traits, or any costs incurred after transfer.
Governing Law. This Agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Georgia.
